Looking Back........1920's Flapper Girl

Greetings bloggers and thanks for stopping by.   Today's card is a 1920's vintage flapper image by the artist, "Art by Miran" (see link and info in the supply list below).   The art deco vintage style happens to be one of my favorite eras to design cards for.    It reminds me of simpler times from the past and the need to take time each day to slow down and spend some time with the Lord and His word.   I know for me by keeping my mind on Him throughout the day it makes it a lot more peaceful.

I didn't have a die cut that matched the art deco theme for this card so I went to the design board (good ole pen, ruler and paper) and designed the background myself.   I actually had to cut this one out by hand. I used a Spellbinders Grand Oval for the image and popped her up with double back foam tape.   I used the Spellbinders Bitty Blossoms for the flowers and Asian Accents for black accents.  I also used a Marianne Design Creatables #LR0157 for the white leaves plus the Jewel Feathers on gold paper and then cut an additional black background to make the feather stand out.  The "Looking Back" sentiment was from CTMH and cut out with a Spellbinders Ovals Large.

I colored the lovely 1920's flapper girl with copic markers using the following colors: Skin - BV31 + E00 + E11, Headband, sash, pearls and flowers - C3 + C7 + 110, Hair - E57 + E59, Shoes - C3 + C7 + C9, Ruby on headband and Dress - R22 + R24 + R29 + BV31 for shadows.

COPIC TIP:  One thing I learned for those that like to alter or change the look of an image using the Copic Multiliner pens is that after you make your changes, LET THE INK DRY THOROUGHLY. I changed her lips using a pencil first and then used my multi-liner pen and didn't wait long enough to go back to erase my pencil lines and speared the multi-liner lines. was very frustrating after spending 3 hours to color the image and then make a major boo boo.  Fortunately I was able to cover it up pretty good but I learned something valuable in the process.

I did try a new technique on this image using the BV31 on the shadows for the face first before laying down my E00 and E11.   I liked the look of the shadows a little better and will probably do this more in the future.   Again, thanks for dropping by today and may the Lord richly bless you.

I plan to enter this on the Color Me Creative Classroom REDS14 Challenge
